Estimated from real flight paths

Dubai airport noise map

Estimated aircraft noise in Dubai is highest in the areas under the DXB flight paths: about 96% of Al Baraha, 76% of Al Khabeesi and 73% of Hor Al Anz sit at 65 dB or more on a 24-hour average. In Mirdif, about 83% of the area is at 55 dB or more. Popular areas such as Jumeirah Village Circle, Jabal Ali First, Business Bay, Al Nahda Second fall below the map's lowest band of 45 dB. These are DataDXB estimates from real flight tracks, not measurements.

How to read this map

Colours show the estimated noise from aircraft averaged over 24 hours, in six bands from 45 dB to over 70 dB. Percentages in the tables are the share of an area's mapped land inside each band, so a large area can have a loud corner and a quiet one. The tables list areas with at least 50 rental contracts this year.

The estimate uses real aircraft positions from adsb.lol on 16 sample days. We add up the sound energy of each flight by altitude and aircraft size, using a simplified version of the ICAO Doc 29 method, and check the result against published UK CAA noise contours for Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. Days when UAE traffic was far below normal are left out.

Treat levels as accurate to roughly 2 dB either way. It doesn't include airport ground noise, buildings, windows or wind, so don't use it to judge a specific building.

Common questions

Which Dubai areas have the most airport noise?

By our estimates, Al Baraha, Al Khabeesi, Hor Al Anz, Al Muteena, all under the DXB flight paths. Of those, Al Baraha has about 96% of its area at 65 dB or more on a 24-hour average.

Is Mirdif under the flight path?

Yes. About 83% of Mirdif is estimated at 55 dB or more on a 24-hour average, and 34% at 65 dB or more.

Is Dubai South affected by DWC airport noise?

On today's flights, none of the Dubai South Residential District is estimated at 45 dB or more. The map reflects the flights on our sample days, not planned growth at DWC, so this could change as the airport expands.

What do the decibel levels mean?

They are a 24-hour average of all flights, not the level of one plane. A single overflight is much louder than the average, so you can still hear planes in an area with a low figure.

Is this an official Dubai noise map?

No. It is DataDXB's own estimate from real flight paths, not measured and not from the airports or any authority. We haven't found official noise contours for these airports published anywhere.

Which airports does the map include?

Dubai International (DXB), Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC), Sharjah (SHJ) and Abu Dhabi (AUH).
